Reforest action
Join the Paul Mitchell’s reforest action when you purchase a Tea Tree Special Shampoo. Trees are grown in California, Haiti, and Peru to fight climate change.
Deforestation is the cause of approximately 15% of greenhouse gas emissions. Over the course of their lifespans, the trees we plant will remove 28,333 tons of CO2 from the atmosphere.
HEALING THE EARTH, HELPING PEOPLE
Reforest’Action has chosen to use the Maya nut tree for the Peru reforestation project. The trees will be planted by local indigenous communities who will eventually harvest, market and eat the nuts. Once trees have matured, approximately 2.5 acres can provide $15,000 of revenue per year—plus the CO2 sequestration will help tackle climate change.
In Haiti, Reforest’Action is committed to planting Cocoa nut trees. The beans are bought by the farmers at a certified fair price and exported to high quality chocolate producers, which generates additional revenues. This will help families be better fed, and contributes to pay for scholarship fees and educational materials. Additionally, the CO2 sequestration will help tackle climate change.
Reforest’Action and the U.S. Forest Service will plant 10,000 big cone Douglas fir and Coulter pine trees in the Angeles National Forest. In addition to benefiting wildlife habitat, this project will help stabilize forest soils and improve water quality for the streams that supply the city of Los Angeles with water.
